Founder of Company
Fencing by itself was no longer enough for me. I knew that if I wanted to perform at the highest level, I needed structured strength and conditioning alongside my fencing. I started working with Ognjen at MAM Conditioning Lab after explaining my objectives — and we achieved them.
What stood out immediately was how much my speed, strength, power, flexibility, and even my mental performance improved. I began thinking faster, processing information better, and controlling situations more effectively because my body finally had the physical capacity to support those demands.
The training pushed me beyond what I was used to, not only physically but mentally. Being able to complete demanding sessions and still perform in fencing and academic work strengthened my ability to think clearly under fatigue. The integration of breathing work, meditative practices, and strength training brought a level of clarity and composure that showed up when it mattered most — including during qualification.
Everything we worked on contributed: flexibility enabled deeper lunges, speed and power allowed me to use that range effectively, and previously limiting weaknesses became strengths. Ognjen has a fundamental understanding of the body that is rare in sport — especially when it comes to identifying problem areas and systematically improving them.
For athletes and students who operate in demanding environments — where intellectual load and physical performance must coexist — this level of training doesn’t just improve sport. It sharpens how you function as a person.
"Working with Ognjen as my Strength & Conditioning and Biomechanics Coach completely changed the way I understand my body and my performance. He is, without question, the best coach I have ever worked with.
Through his training methodology, I was able to push past limits I didn’t know I had. My strength, power, and movement mechanics were taken to levels I had never reached before. The work we did helped me understand how my body functions, how to move more efficiently, and how to produce power with control and precision.
Beyond my own performance as a K-1 fighter, Ognjen’s approach also elevated my coaching. I applied his methods directly to my work as a Kickboxing and Pilates instructor, which significantly improved how I teach movement, technique, and body awareness.
His impact goes far beyond physical training — it’s about understanding the body, breaking barriers, and unlocking true athletic potential."
"I have trained with Coach Ognjen since 2008, with a big emphasis on prehab. I play rugby which is a high collision sport and Coach Ognjen helped lower my injury risk.
I have received many bad hits to the shoulder's & knee's, with Coach Ognjen training my body was able to take the impacts with confidence. Through the years I have never had any major injury while i was training with Coach Ogjnen.
Coach Ognjen is the best there is and has great knowledge in high performance training & Prehab. I highly recommend him to any athlete who wants to level up their game! "
I have been training with Ognjen Bozic since May 2014. Although I had trained by myself in the past, since working with Ognjen I have had more noticeable improvements in my muscle definition and significant improvements in my strength levels. He specifically tailors his training programs to the individual and gives you his undivided attention during each session.
I also appreciate the fact that he tries to get you to understand the reasons and benefits for each exercise that he has chosen. And by understanding how the muscles work in each exercise it helps me focus a little bit more on making sure I get the technique right. I believe he has equipped me with the knowledge to be able to train effectively on my own, but I know the benefit of having him a personal trainer is invaluable and one that I would like to keep for as long as possible. "
"I've been a part of the Ferndale Taekwondo for two years and it’s been nothing short of amazing. Master Ognjen the Instructor cares deeply about their sport, but, more importantly, about the children they teach. I have not only received top-notch tae kwon do instruction, but I’ve also learned about self control and the benefits of working hard. Students at Ferndale Taekwondo benefit from a great mix of exercise and fun. I can’t say enough wonderful things about Ferndale Taekwondo!

"I have been a client of Ognjen Bozic since I engaged his services in 2017. In his capacity as my personal trainer, I have had extensive exposure to Ognjen’s methodology, philosophy and qualifications as a trainer. During these three years, I have realised that Ognjen is more than just a trainer in the traditional sense and his sensitivity to my needs ensured a dynamic and bespoke approach to me as a client. After several failed attempts to engage with other personal trainers who understood my needs, I was extremely fortunate to have found Ognjen."

"In 2004, I started Taekwondo, I was 34 at the time, but because of my Dance background, the Practice came easily to me. At the time Sabunim Bozic was assistant instructor to our Grand Master. He had also founded and was running his own Taekwondo Club at Tuks University, Pretoria at that time. I found that under his instruction, the way he explained and demonstrated, my technique, confidence and understanding of Taekwondo grew exponentially. It was under his tutelage I achieved my 2nd Dan. During our Tournaments, I witnessed his skill as a Coach, knowing exactly which tips and advice each Competitor needed to bring out their best. 2016 I contracted G.B.S. My Neural System shut down and when I came out of Physical Rehabilitation, I had to learn to walk and move all over again. As well as retrain my Nervous system ( balance, proprioception, spatial awareness), strength and flexibility. I was very hesitant to return to Taekwondo training as I found it too emotional a reminder of what I had thought I had lost. But, Sabunim Bozic helped me to have the faith and confidence in myself to start again. With his in-depth understanding of movement and Sports Science along with his vast Knowledge and experience in teaching Taekwondo and working Personally with Sports People and Dancers, he was able to help me rediscover abilities in movement and Taekwondo I thought lost. His patience and ability to bring out one's confidence in one's self and know when and how to get us to safely challenge ourselves is a gift. Under Subonim Bozic's guidance, I am now on my way to testing for my 3rd Dan and now that he has just opened his Second Taekwondo Club, I am able to have more lessons. Subonim Bozic has an absolute passion and dedication to Taekwondo and growing the Sport for all."

" I became a direct student of Ognjen at the CSIR Taekwondo club, which he run even as he completed his Matric. Ognjen never restricted his enquiry to only the mastery of all aspects of Taekwondo, but maintains a well-rounded competency in performing and graphical art, philosophy,
literature, linguistics and history in its classical and contemporary forms.
I remained his student as he became the founding instructor of the Tuks (University of Pretoria) Taekwondo Club, and assisting him with the running of the first two Tuks Open Taekwondo
Competitions. I remained a student of Ognjen, training 3 times per week/ 6-8 hours per week, up to 2010 when he
relocated to Johannesburg. As a fellow physical and health lifestyle practitioner, we maintain
contact, exchange information and compare interpretation continually.
Ognjen is invested in a sustainable approach to a physical lifestyle. He pays meticulous attention to:
• Injury avoidance through a foundation of conditioning and flexibility
• Staleness prevention through a Balance between variation and structure
• Motivation through social needs and work effort balance
Ognjen can cater for the expectations of both the elite competitor and the improving individual. Ognjen has the ability to frame taekwondo skills in terms of the kinetic principle that would transfer to other martial arts or sporting codes. Ognjen has a mature and balanced philosophy of life, unquestionable work ethic, positive energy and refined sense of humour.

Prehab is an integral part of our methodology of coaching and mentoring. As such, we have three main applications for Prehab:
Prehab as a base for any Sports People: injury prevention and understanding how to get the most out of your movement, exercise and skills.
We combine Prehab with the BOZIC Method for optimal results. Find out about the BOZIC Method
Those who wish to prevent an injury and those who have been injured and gone to a Physio then have come to us. Or if the injury was severe, operation, post Physio, then us. This group may include Sports People.
If you’re not feeling fit or confident in your training yet, Prehab and the BOZIC Method are a great place to start. There are many exercises designed to challenge you safely and help you build strength step by step.
This group will develop a Strong Base and build a solid foundation that they can take to Strength and Conditioning training, Calisthenics, Taekwondo or anything else that you wish to take it to.
BOZIC Method was developed by Coach Ognjen Bozic over/through the past three decades and it is still evolving. The Method entails functional body movement exercises and exercise protocols as well as Sports Science language to create a base for any type of training. Prehab is also part of the Method and sequencing of exercises. A lot of these exercises are less known and specialized.
We will teach you how your Central Nervous System operates and how this applies to the system of training.
The BOZIC Method will help you unlock abilities that you may think are not possible:
With the BOZIC Method you will be thought how to recover and avoid injuries. Understand what is holding you back and why? And have tools to overcome those limits...

Alexander Tafur National FencerHi, my name is Alexander Tafur. I have competed in the sport of fencing since I was 11 years old. I was a South African national junior fencer before aging out into the senior category. Now, I compete as a student-athlete for the Harvard Fencing Team.
I heard about Coach Ognjen and MAM Conditioning Lab from Harry Saner, a Paris Olympian and a club teammate. I wanted to get to his level as a fencer, and he recommended Coach Ognjen as a qualified biomechanics specialist. So I started out training with Ognjen, and from the first session, I knew I wanted to continue.
What I appreciate about my training with Coach Ognjen is that it isn't just training for training's sake. He helps me to understand what my body is doing and to understand the scientific aspects behind it. I think the first thing I remember Ognjen telling me was, "Please do not be afraid to ask questions." I used to be someone that was quite reserved, kept things to himself, and just tried to figure things out without asking for anyone's help. But I forced myself to start asking questions, to start wondering, "Why am I feeling this way?" Or, "Why does this muscle feel like that?" And, "Why is my body reacting in this way?" And Coach Ognjen would give me the guidance I needed, explaining the science behind it and dumbing it down when necessary.
Ultimately, by understanding what was going on in my body, I was able to take control in my training, which was really appealing to me. When I took that kind of active curiosity into my fencing, I felt more comfortable to ask my coach how to correct my skills, footwork or technique, whenever something felt off in my lessons or bouts. This way, I never felt like I was a machine simply being told what to do.
I would definitely recommend Coach Ognjen and the services of MAM Conditioning Lab to anyone who wants to have a healthy and strong body, and to anyone who wants to get conditioning specifically for their sport. Ognjen is amazing at investigating what kind of strength and mobility your sport demands. Even if he has never trained you before and never trained anyone in your sport before, he will do the research and figure out what needs to be done in order to help you excel.
